Ach-ooo
Good Morning all.
I know that many have been wondering why I haven't been here typing away with all the many things in my head and the happenings here at the rescue.
Its that time of the year when all the creepy bugs come a crawling and I have caught pneumonia (waiting on the Radiologist to confirm). I saw the doctor and have a bag of pills to take to keep me moving and to get well with. So, amongst the achoooo's and cough cough hack hack's I am continuing to work on things here.
The State Fair, then the loss of Ma'gu and the loss of my companion dog Bud have taken its toll on my immune system.. Time to pull out my 'Native juju medicine' as Joey calls it *rolls eyes*. So, will have to invest a few days of rest when I can and taking all this 'stuff' modern medicine wants me to take.
Other than my yucky bug which is not contagious everything is on slow track forward. The horses are doing well (taps on wood) until I clear up and can do some more intensive training things before winter. Lily and Woodrow saw the Chiropractor yesterday. John the Farrier comes back on November 1st to trim up some. Their feet should be on the slow downhill track to slow up for winter BUT they all still need farrier care. We can use some help with the funds to get a few more done before the winter chill sets in.. trimming in the cold is rough but we get it done. Even the smallest amount will help get a horses feet trimmed.
This weekend is our Halloween event. Yup, I wont let the kiddos down, I will get things going, maybe not swinging from the rafters but I will do something to share with them the holiday and see them smile. I hope we get some kids that come.
November will bring our Winter Prep Workdays. 7-9th. Gramma Marsh is flying in. Everyone will eat good and I get to stay out of the kitchen for 5 days. Viet(my husband) will be in heaven and sit with his mouth full of all her wonderful dishes. Many others feel bad as its either that time of year, no vacation or no funds to come for this event. I pray that in the Spring they can make the others. We are making it an annual event for April and then November.
I want to welcome Kim who has become such an asset here. She is coming very regularly to help me except when she is sick or has other obligations. The horses are good with her, she lots of patience and picks up on things quickly.
I hope to be able since I will have some time to sit in the house getting well that I can come to write more, its just a gamble that I wont pass out in the recliner.. LOL.
I also pray that all of you are well, that you are surviving the stress of the economy and times. That you are safe, warm and sheltered in the arms of the Creator.

I am sorry to hear you have been physically feeling so crummy also RT. The loss of Buddy and putting down Mu was more than enough. I am glad to hear that Kim has been able to help you out.
You might want to consider a link in general to all the different volunteers
who help in ways that others of us and other of us who also volunteer may not even know about. Anyway, hope you feel better soon too. Additionally, it might be nice to know which sanctuary horses still need angels. Robin

Robin,
Thanks for writing, Good to see you here. I hope your leg is doing better. Im still feeling little yucky, took my Zpak and have Levequin to start on now. Takes a LOT for me to say ok Ive had nuf and go see the doctor.
So far things are on even keel. We are working on some small projects and my son is helping Viet and I get the house worked on for winter. Sealing up window cracks, put some stuff up in attic(boards) so we can clean out the garage some and odd n ends. He owed us for some stuff we got him two years ago and so we are collecting on our labor.. LOL.
I am hoping to get a section going for the volunteers soon and can also list things there where they can stay in contact and even help with scheduling. They can see days that are primary that we need help, for what and so on..
Holler at me when you are feeling better. Hope your horse is well.
The sanctuary ones needing an angel are:
Forrest, Nuisance, Wanbli, Dan, Dale, Sadie, Felony, and Goldie. Some of the others have someone helping them from time to time and a few have a monthly sponsor.(Lily, Meadow((you)), Woodrow, Ernie, Tullie. We are currently working on re-evaluating some end of the year to see where they stand. I may have someone willing to work with SI in the spring on his ability to ride. Will see how that goes. Stubby will move to sanctuary since he is now progressing with his weight and will never see and no rehab will help him on that. Just keeping him on his minor dose of bute to keep his eye pain down. Vet said he was having some significant pain when got here and his stress levels were up. Bess will not be able to be adopted out due to her severe heart condition and Stubby is glued to her posterior. So, until I can link him up with another horse Bess will have to be his guide horse.
Couple of the babies will be ready for adoption in the spring after their spring eval.. JR and Ginger. They are doing pretty good now.
So lots of changes will come after the first of the year...
